The Labrador retriever

Its personality and traits make it the most popular and most desired bog breed. Labrador retrievers are sturdy, solid build dogs. There are two major lines, American and English. The term American refers to the working lines where the term English refers to the show lines. What's the difference? American labs are more athletic, more surefooted, smarter, and generally healthier. English labs are bred to look good. They are usually not tested for their trainability.

There are good American lines available. 50 % of the ancestry with excellent hips is not uncommon.

In the English lab world, excellent hips are rare. Many Labrador Breeders breed dogs that test fair or borderline for hips. Finding a good breeder is sometimes a challenge.
